Back to School Essentials

Ah yes, it’s that time of year to head back to the classroom and back to the stressful workload that comes with it. There are several essential oils that are recommended for back to school with several different benefits. Whether you’re looking for an energy boost, to focus, or to relax, there are different blends you can make on your own.

As we all know, lavender is notorious for setting a calming environment and assisting with relieving stress (and if you didn’t know that before, now you do). Bergamot is the main essential oil I want to focus on. Bergamot has uplifting and energizing properties but is often included in blends to reduce stress or help depression. This oil makes for a great blend to wind down but still be alert depending on what other oils are blended with it.

  • Heavy Sleep (Good for Kids Too)
    • 2 drops bergamot
    • 3 drops juniper berry
    • 2 drops vetiver
  • Put on Your Thinking Cap
    • 4 drops peppermint
    • 3 drops grapefruit
    • 2 drops bergamot
  • Rise and Shine
    • 6 drops peppermint
    • 2 drops bergamot
    • 2 drops lime
  • Calm Yourself
    • 3 drops geranium
    • 2 drops bergamot
    • 3 drops lavender

Pro Tip: Similar to building an immunity to medication we take when taking too often, we do build immunity to the powerful benefits of essential oils. We’d recommend doing four days on an essential oil, then switching to a different one or creating a [different] blend of essential oils for four days and keep rotating. 

Caution: Certain essential oils can do more harm than good to children due to their bodies still developing. For example, peppermint is not recommended for children under the age of 8 because their lungs are still developing. Please be careful if you have pets before diffusing essential oils because many are toxic to them. Cats have a very low tolerance and can get very sick due to essential oils, however, dogs can tolerate certain essential oils.
